For the second installment in our FFF Hot Tape series, we’re honored to have the one and only AOI step up to the plate. The man has featured on our site many times, and given his output, it’s no surprise to see him back here.

Regularly heralded as one of Australia’s wildest and most prolific beat makers; when AOI isn’t producing albums for Lukey Cage, GDP, The Baroness or releasing an uncountable amount of skewed hip hop beats under his own name, the man is often found haunting the second-hand record shops of North Melbourne, adding to his ever expanding and always daunting record collection. Seriously, this guy has an entire living room dedicated to a vinyl collection that spans hip hop, electronic music, library records, 70’s soul, psych rock, Japanese anime soundtracks and all other bizarre points in between. It represents a lifetime dedication to digging in dusty crates, sampling and the vinyl format.

AOI’s sampling and digging prowess is what puts him ahead of everyone else in the game, and exactly why we asked him to make a 60 minute mix that digs deep into this collection. It’s a truly rare visit through the labyrinth of influences and sample sources of a hard working producer and obsessive collector – an absolute goldmine for the fellow record enthusiast or sample trainspotter. AOI has declined the opportunity to present a track list, and with over 60 tracks blazing in through the hour, it’s a much better idea to crank this baby up, light a phatty or take a sip, and enjoy the ride.
