Notting Hill Carnival RBMA Live Web Stream

In an Australia-wide exclusive, Forcefed Fistfuls Radio presents a live web stream from the Red Bull Music Academy’s sold-out Notting Hill Carnival event. The live performance will be streaming from this podcast episode Monday August 30th from noon to 7pm GMT+1 (11pm – 6am Brisbane time). Look for the RBMA Radio player below to listen live.

Returning to the city that hosted the Red Bull Music Academy earlier this year, the Academy will for the third time present a stage at the Notting Hill Carnival: a London pow wow set up in 1966 that has always been a hotbed for pulsing bass movements. In fact, with its massive influx of visitors and Caribbean residents, Notting Hill Carnival is ranked the second largest carnival in the world, second only to the Rio original.

The Acts: Major Lazer is made up of DJs Diplo and Switch. The name represents a cartoon alias to express their unique, futuristic take on the deviant dancehall sounds of the West Indies. Joined by an all-star cast of Jamaican vocalists, the pair has created an experimental and infectious set that will propel you through Carnival. David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan is a man who needs little introduction. Slayer of monstrous sound systems, the sound clash scientist brings heavy hype to any party he plays. Prepare to embrace the bass. Breaking from convention, Drop The Lime is renowned for chopped-up breaks and wobbling bass, Carnival will see DTL drop a fully Rockabilly set, bringing the double bass to a bass-heavy party.

Another Carnival newcomer is Poirier. A graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy 2010, the Montreal-based producer effortlessly combines styles to create a completely unique sound. Past hook ups include the likes of Crookers and Toddla T – this year’s Academy stage will, however, see him join forces with Face T to create a bouncing Carnival mash up.

Douster was born in France but has called Buenos Aires his home for the past two years – combining electro, house, bass, dancehall and hip hop with Argentine flavours. Meanwhile UK bass warrior Joker will raise the crowd with his instantly recognisable drops.
